Active Sport Preston

Welcome Jonathan Smith to Team Active who is launching Active Sport Preston in April. 

New Area Manager Jonathan commented, "Sport is my passion; from the first time I kicked a football as a toddler, my family knew I was on the path to a life-long love of sport and did everything in their power to help me on my road to the success I have achieved as a professional footballer and coach. In fact, it is by observing those around me, supporting and driving me to succeed, that I realised that I want to do the same; inspire others to fulfil their potential and raise the profile of exercise, sport and healthy living.

I have significant industry experience as I have been a professional footballer for the last 16 years, it was always my dream to become a footballer and I made this happen due to hard work, self belief but above all else I enjoyed it. I want to use the experience I have gained along the way to help young people in all sports excel and find their talent through Active Sport.

I know as a coach you have the power to impact a child’s way of thinking, their quality of life, and the decisions they make and my team and I are passionate about making a difference to every student we teach. 

I motivate young people to always try their best and enjoy what they do and if they do this, along with good teaching and coaching, they will reach their potential. Every individual is different and I believe a person centred approach is key; some children need different types of teaching, coaching and allowances to others and I believe I am good at recognising this and acting upon the advice of fellow professionals, which enables me to get the best from the children.

The main aim is to make sure that every child enjoys our sessions and leaves with a smile on their faces!"
