Founder Mark Whitwood established and launched Active Soccer in 2005 with the help and support of the Prince’s Trust.
Mark represented Great Britain Schools running cross country, also playing a number of sports including football and cricket to a representative level. Following his studies at Leeds Carnegie University which included coaching in America, Mark worked in the sport and leisure sector for Fitness First and Leeds United before starting the Active journey.
Since the first ever coaching session in 2005 thousands of young children have participated in our Active Programmes. The Active name has become recognised and renowned for providing Fun, Healthy and Inclusive opportunities for young people to get involved in sport.
Our services have extended overseas, we deliver our popular soccer school in Finland and work with exchange children from Asia. The Active Sport Centre was opened in 2014 and has it’s very own floodlit 3G venue where our Head Office and senior team are located.
Mark’s restless spirit, passion and drive to help improve sporting opportunities resulted in a diversified group being introduced. Following 15 years of Active Soccer the Active Sports Group was founded and offers coaching and business opportunities through the activity programmes Active Totz, Active Soccer and Active Sport.
At the heart of everything we do is our ethos; Our objective is to improve and build individual ‘Resilience, Confidence and Growth’ across all our Active programmes whilst maintaining a ‘Fun, Healthy and Inclusive’ environment for all.
Together they are what makes the Active Sports Group special.
